China Mobile uses PESQ algorithm to evaluate MOS score, this method is considered as the most suitable one since currently it is an algorithm which is generally considered as the closest to user experience. This paper introduces the development of speech quality evaluation algorithm meanwhile describes PESQ algorithm in detail.
This paper lists the factors that may affect MOS scoring in GSM network and analyzes the reasons in theory meanwhile gives actual test data to support the correctness of the analysis. The conclusion is speech coding rate, the frequency of handover and interference may have great influences on the MOS value of GSM network. The last chapter summarizes the paper meanwhile provides some helpful suggestion on GSM network optimization.
